A must-do autumn classic! Great "10K" trail course with roots, rocks, stumps, puddles, branches and boulders - no whining!

LOCATION
Thetis Lake Park, Main Beach, at the end of Six Mile Road
DISTANCE/SANCTIONING
Approximately 10 kilometers. This cross country event is sanctioned by BC Athletics.
ENTRY LIMIT
A maximum limit of 600 entries will be accepted for this race. No exceptions. Day-of-Race entries will only be accepted should the entry limit not be reached. Please register early to avoid the disappointment of a sell-out.
NO FRILLS
There will be limited food and fluid at the finish. Please be prepared by bringing your own refreshments and a dry, warm change of clothes. Hot chocolate, chicken soup, cookies and fruit are available.
MEMORIAL FUNDS
All race proceeds will be directed to Harriers Foundation projects. To date the Prairie Inn Harriers Running Club has raised over $ 380,000.00 towards 107 Foundation projects in Greater Victoria including seven major scholarships and bursaries at UVic and Camosun College.
PRESENTATIONS
Awards and draw prizes will be presented at the finish line immediately after the last runner finishes at approximately 2:15 pm.

A fall challenge on character trails. Often muddy, wet and slippery. Two distances to choose from, with a classic climb to the summit of Stewart Mountain on the long course.
The Stewart Mountain race is organized and hosted by the Prairie Inn Harriers Running Club and is subject to current Provincial Health Officials and BC Athletics guidelines and approvals.
Course Description
The races begin at the main beach of Thetis Lake and soon take you off into the character single-track sections of the park. The long course summits Stewart Mountain for some beautiful views; pause to enjoy! The short course follows similar trails out and then turns back toward the beach at the Aid Station. Location

The Harriers Pioneer 8K offers a fast course in a rural, low-traffic area. This popular race often acts as the provincial 8K championships. The race is the first race in Canada each year and is part of both the Vancouver Island Race Series and the BC Super Series.
The first race of the Island Race Series, hosted by the Prairie Inn Harriers, is in North Saanich. Race number, food and awards pick up are at North Saanich Middle School, 10400 McDonald Park Rd.
The race itself starts and finishes at the Tourist Information Centre parking lot, 10382 Pat Bay Highway.
This fast and flat course is very rural and run on quiet roads. It is expecting to attract a strong elite field as well as many recreational runners.
The second race in the Island Race Series, Cobble Hill is situated in the beautiful Cowichan Valley.
The second race in the Vancouver Island Race Series and in 2025 it is the BC Athletics 10K Road Championships!
The Cobble Hill 10K is a beautiful course located in and around the farms and community of Cobble Hill. The course is even faster with a flatter route and a downhill to the finish. On the route, you may see wild turkeys, ducks, and even some Elk that are known to roam along Wilkinson Rd!(past results)
The Bastion 12k is Bastion Run Club’s premier road racing event in Nanaimo. It is the third leg of the Vancouver Island Race Series. New in 2025 it will be held in Lantzville, replacing the race in Cedar.
The start time is 11:00 AM. Race check-in opens at 9:00 AM. There is no early start and no day of race registration.
Beverages and food will be served after the race. Awards are presented to the top 10 runners in each five-year age group. All participants are eligible for door prizes.(past results)
The Hatley Castle 8K by Frontrunners Athletic Club (FAC) is a character course with an ultra fast start and finish, but a hilly middle, especially the "big one" going up after the 3K mark.
The course offers a mix of asphalt and gravel, ups and downs, and spectacular vistas of Esquimalt Lagoon in the foreground and the Olympic Mountains and downtown Victoria in the distance.

The Westcoast Sooke 10K is a popular road race because of the gently rolling nature of the course, great post-race food, plenty of parking, and Westcoast Running club secured a great venue.(past results)
The Comox Valley RV Half Marathon offers one of the fastest courses in Western Canada with many PBs set here.
The course is a beautiful rural, out-and-back event with views of Mount Washington, Forbidden Plateau, and the Tsolum and Puntledge Rivers. The race is known for its tasty post-race food and lots of great draw prizes.
The half-marathon has a history dating back to at least 1986 when it was a 20-kilometre race. Some legendary names won it back then including five-time Royal Victoria Marathon winner Kelvin Broad and 1980 Olympian Mike Creery.
In 1995, the Comox Valley Road Runners (CVRR) extended the course to be a 21.1K half-marathon. It’s fast and with the right tactics, personal bests and qualification standards can be set there.(past results)
The McLean Mill 10K offers a rustic and beautiful start and finish area at the McLean Mill.
The Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce a new course that is more familiar to runners in terms of distance at 10K with a course more conducive to racing. No longer the Paper Chase 10K, the race is now called the McLean Mill 10K.(past results)
The Bazan Bay course is one of the fastest 5K routes in Canada and perhaps North America. The course is nearly flat with an almost imperceptible incline for the first 2.5K. There is one turn, the 180-degree turnaround, then there is the mildest of downhill returns.
